Confirmation
Stir up in them the gift of your Holy Spirit: the spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and the fear of the Lord, the spirit of joy in your presence, both now and forever. (Blessing for Confirmation, Evangelical Lutheran Worship).
In Confirmation class, we work on stirring up the spirits of Confirmands so that they will take responsibility for their life-long faith journey. Confirmation is a chance to ask questions, build relationships, learn about God and the church, experience both doubt and belief, serve God’s people, worship God, and have fun together.
At Amazing Grace, Confirmation is a three-year process (6th-8th grades) culmination in Affirmation of Baptism on Reformation Day of the 9th grade year. Pastor Susanna Muzzin teaches confirmation classes, assisted by our Faith Formation Team Leader, Rachel Alsaiyad.
Currently, Confirmation meets on Wednesday evenings on Zoom in coordination with several other churches. We have a lesson together, and then break into small groups to share highs and lows and discuss the lesson. Fun activities are scheduled throughout the year as well.
